“An educator is a role model that will help you and educate you not only on subjects that we learn at school, but I think subjects overall in life too, and that are key figures in your life that guide you. ”
— Carlo Ramirez-Truse, New Teacher Center Youth Advisory Board

The New Teacher Center is working to disrupt the system of education by humanizing teaching, empowering educators, and centering students. In this Episode, Atyani Howard, Chief Program Officer for New Teacher Center, and Carlo Ramirez-Truse, the chair of the organization's youth advisory board, join host Karen Pittman for a dynamic conversation about New Teacher Center's push for educational equity.

As a member of the New Teacher Center Equity Commission, Karen has been engaging in conversations that are both reflective and forward looking with the New Teacher Center Team. In this conversation the team  expands on what they mean by each of their core phrases and focus areas. Carlo’s perspective on where he learns outside of the classroom and his definition of “educator” help drive the conversation and Karen & Atyani’s thinking.
